Sneak-a-Peak and Orientation Details

Welcome to Community School! 

Kindergarten screenings ended August 21. Please reach out to the school directly if you need assistance.

If your child has a specific learning plan, there is no need for screening as we will be following that plan.

You and your child are invited to a Kindergarten Orientation in August, followed by a “Soft Start” session, where he/she will engage with peers and each teacher in the K classrooms.

I’d like to share some very TENTATIVE INFORMATION regarding the process. Please keep in mind that building access may have an impact! 

K Sneak A Peek/Soft Start is scheduled for Thursday, 8/28/25 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.:

During the “Soft Start” session, groups of students are created randomly. Each group then rotates through each of the 4 classrooms to engage in an activity with each of the teachers. While children are visiting classrooms, parents will stay behind in the cafeteria for a presentation by various support personnel at Community School. Following this session, teachers meet to create class lists based on the results of the screenings and observations from “Soft Start”. Teachers will then email you placement information that afternoon.

Kindergarten Orientation, Tuesday 9/2/25 from 10:00-10:45 a.m.

On the first day of school for students in Grades 1-12, you and your child will be invited to a Kindergarten Orientation where you (as a large group—parents and students) will hear from the teachers and then you will visit your child’s classroom for a brief visit. Participation is limited to student and 2 parents. Please do not bring extended family or younger siblings due to space limitations. Each classroom has an identified capacity limit.
