Even a snow storm didn’t dampen the spirit of students and staff at Community School.  The week began with rousing pep rallies with “cheerleaders” leading our students in a number of cheers.    After the storm, students returned to school on Wednesday wearing their wackiest costumes and clothing.  Sports day is always a popular event (even though the principal is a Giants/Mets fan).  The week ended with everyone wearing and eating green!  Students were treated to a performance by  the Tir Na Nog Irish Step Dancers .   Thanks to the Community School Association for sponsoring this fun filled week.  We especially thank Stephanie Livesey and her team for planning all the special events for Spirit Week.

Community School Yearbook:  The deadline to order the 2017 Yearbook is quickly approaching. Thank you to everyone who has already ordered! For those of you who have not ordered yet, your child should be receiving a personalized notice home in their dolphin folder reminding you about this deadline. Please feel free to send in this paper form in an envelope marked Yearbook, or use the easy online payment system www.ybpay.lifetouch.com  Yearbook ID code: 11591717  Thank you again for your orders!  Your children will treasure their yearbooks for a very long time!

 A Reminder from Mrs. Monahan:   Pictures of pets for the concert power point should be emailed to Mrs. Monahan by Friday, March 24.  If any third grader wishes to purchase a kazoo $1.00 is also due by March 24

Survey Works:  Now through Friday, March 31st.  The window is now open to take this very important survey.  To take the survey, visit: surveys.panoramaed.com/ride and enter 08109family.

Aspen Family Portal:  Second trimester report cards will be published on Monday, March 27th.  Please check you Aspen login and password so that you can access your child’s report card.

Fifth Grade Bean Bag Tournament:  Friday, March 31st, 4pm-5pm.  We will hold our Fourth Annual Bean Bag Tag Tournament where fifth graders will be playing bean bag tag on teams of 8.  This will take place at Community Elementary School inside the gymnasium immediately after school. Only players will be allowed inside the gymnasium.  The two top winning teams will then get to compete against the other fifth graders in the district at the Cumberland High School Wellness Center on another day where spectators will be welcome.  

Friday Fitness Club:  Friday, March 24th.  Students in grades 3-5 are invited to attend.  The session runs from 8:10 am to 8:40 am.  Students may be dropped off by the gym door.  There is no teacher supervision before 8:10 am

CSA Updates: 

  • CSA Meeting:  Wednesday, March 22nd at 7pm.  Childcare available.

  • Variety Show Auditions:  Student auditions for the Variety Show are scheduled for Tuesday, March 21st from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Community School.  The show will be presented on Friday, May 19th at Cumberland High School.  Please click on the following link to sign up for auditions. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E44ABA92FA3FB6-20161
